Harvest time is in full-effect at the Rochdale Village Urban Garden in Jamaica Queens New York. Representatives for the garden manned a booth at the cooperative’s recent Fall Festival and what a bounty they displayed. This season, farmers of the Rochdale Village Urban Garden grew greens perfect for making callaloo (a popular Caribbean dish), vine ripened tomatoes, green and scotch bonnet peppers, beets and other fresh herbs.
Now that football season is here, it’s a good time to make use of the veggies you may have grown over the summer. Why not create a totally fresh garden salsa? The Rochdale Village Urban Garden has designed an easy recipe inspired by Allrecipes.com.
The vegetables featured here are from the Urban Garden and yes, the salsa recipe is tasty. Let me know how it came out at rochdalebulletin@gmail.com. Yum!
